There’s something new happening which is helping South Africans clean up again, and I don’t just mean getting rid of Zuma and all the rot and damage that needs to be cleared out. I’m talking about Chux, an Australian brand which will help you in the kitchen, around the house and even in your car.
I think the product I like best is the Non-Scratch Scourer. These days you get so many pots and pans with non-stick surfaces. But true as anything, as time passes, things get stuck and then what do you do? You don’t want to damage the area around or leave scratch marks. But you do want to clean it as much as you can.
I have this dilemma with my wok. Every Friday I make a lovely chicken stir fry. It’s my end of the week reward to eat the rainbow of vegetables (precut at Woolworths, yes that’s my treat). Only problem? After we’ve consumed this dish, the wok has a ring where the food sticks. I’m not sure when this ring started but I was determined to tackle it with the Chux Non-Scratch Scourer.
As you can see, there is a huge difference. I didn’t manage to get all of it off but most of it is. Very happy about this as there is a non-stick pan I also fry eggs (and Nicky’s fish fingers) in that I need to use this for.
The Heavy Duty Scourer was also put to use in the oven. Disclosure: I didn’t clean this, I got the maid to do it. But she cleaned that oven with the scourer pretty thoroughly. (Nicky has been so sick this past week so she pulled some extra shifts). Again, not perfectly, but a huge difference. You can see the glass is now transparent and you can see my foot on the other side.
The angled shape of both scourers make them easy to hold and reach into difficult corners.
The Spot Cleaner Magic Eraser is great for scuff marks and I used it on Nicky’s little table. You can see the little black mark from a shoe that came into contact with the table leg was removed by using this eraser. All I did was add a bit of water to the sponge and it worked really well. There are eight little sponges in a pack.
The cool thing about this eraser is that you can also use it on all hard surfaces such as walls, door handles, light switches, electronics and even your kid’s toys.
The multipurpose Original Superwipes are super absorbant and are made from a specially designed open weave cloth. They can even be washed in the washing machine.
You can have a different colour wipe for every area in your house: kitchen, bathroom, car, laundry, etc.
What cleaning challenges do you have in your house?
This post was not sponsored but I was provided with the products. Chux is available at your local Spar. If they don’t have it, ask the manager to order it.

Good luck! I think the garage would be the last on my list!
