Meet South African mom blogger Janine, who blogs at Five Star Stories. She previously told us about her trip to Brenton-on-Sea, so now let’s hear about her trip to Mauritius!
Whether it is just lazing in the sun, playing a round of golf, or spending time in the warm Mauritius water indulging in any number of adventurous activities, Constance Belle Mare Plage has it all.
Constance Belle Mare Plage, set along a stunning 2km white sand beach in a sheltered bay on the East Coast of Mauritius, recently provided the perfect destination for our first holiday as a family of three. This was to be our first time travelling internationally with our now one-year-old daughter and with sand, sun, and sea we couldn’t think of a better place than the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius to just relax and destress from everything that the year of parenting a newborn in the midst of COVID 19 had thrown at us!
On arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff who helped us unload our luggage and escorted us to the waiting lounge where we were served some delicious welcome drinks – a great way to start the holiday. Once the check-in process was complete, and on the way to the room, one of the friendly staff showed us around the resort and filled us in on all the activities and facilities available. With a full dive centre, ocean sports galore, two golf courses, and a spa, we knew there would be plenty to keep us occupied for the week ahead.
In terms of accommodation, we had opted for one of their Junior Suites on the ground floor. The room was just as you would expect from a 5-star hotel with plenty of space and a cot was ready and waiting for our little one. On the terrace, there was a beautiful chaise lounge – ideal for keeping an eye on the little one while playing on the grass.
Just outside the doors of our room was a heated pool. Popular with families, you won’t feel like you’re disturbing honeymooners on holiday if you show up here with your kids in tow! In fact, they even organise kids’ activities and aqua aerobics in the pool so you can be assured there’s always a fun, lively atmosphere here. Next to the pool you will also find the Indigo restaurant which is a great pre-drinks spot with fresh sushi and salads on the menu.
In fact, the resort has eight different dining options, so you really are spoilt for choice. You actually don’t even need to get up to enjoy a great meal here as they will serve lunch and drinks right to your lounger while you’re having the best time soaking up the sun on the beach. In the evenings though we made sure to head through to the main buffet restaurant, named La Citronnelle. This proved to be a great option for the little one because of the amazing variety of options available. We could always find something she liked and there was even a kid’s corner.
During the day, when we weren’t playing with our daughter in the pool, soaking up the sun on the lounger, or enjoying a leisurely stroll down the beach, the boat house was where the action was. Here we found sail boats, as well as kayaks and pedalos. You can even learn to waterski or wakeboard. However, the real highlight for us was embarking on a snorkelling excursion.
With a spout of bad weather, no other guests decided to join us, which meant we had the boat to ourselves. And when the sun came out our daughter really enjoyed feeding the fish from above while mommy and daddy took turns snorkelling in the azure water below.
But the highlight of the trip for our daughter had to be the time spent time playing with her at the kid’s club. The kid’s club entertainers have a whole program to keep the little ones busy and while our bundle of joy was too young to be left alone, we loved to see her face light up at all amazing toys on offer. They also had the cutest little push cars which seem to be a hit with all the kids, numerous brightly coloured jungle gyms, and even their own pool.
And of course, a holiday to Mauritius wouldn’t be complete without some time spent at the spa where I could really make the most of my relaxing Mauritius holiday!
