Tembali Party Park: Kid-Friendly Fun With Safe Play Zones, Parent Seating, and an On-Site ECD Preschool

October 24, 2025 by Heather Step Leave a Comment

Back when I was living in Johannesburg, we visited Tembali for a birthday party. Tembali is a lovely party venue in Johannesburg. We had a lovely time at the play park while Nicky rode a bike around in the play area. I was really impressed with the structure of the playground and looked around at the lovely environment. I’m lucky enough to be able to interview the owner today, and find out what goes on at that lovely play park. It turns out, it’s not just a party venue. They also have a very special school nestled in this beautiful place.

Tembali Party Park

Party planning for birthday parties should feel easy, not stressful. You want your kids party to have your child laughing with friends, you want safety locked in, and you want your coffee hot while you watch the fun. That is why families in Sandton choose Tembali Party Park, a friendly spot with safe play zones, comfortable seating for parents, and an ECD preschool on the same campus for extra peace of mind. If you have been searching for a party venue Johannesburg families recommend, you are in the right place.

In this guide, you will get a clear view of the park’s features, what the packages include, how to book, a quick look at Tembali Preschool, plus an interview with the owner, Kelly Ferreira.

Why Tembali Party Park is the party venue Johannesburg parents trust

Parents want a place where kids play hard and go home happy. They also want guards-up safety, clean grounds, and kind staff who know what they are doing. Tembali Party Park checks these boxes with a layout that keeps kids busy and parents relaxed.

The park is set up with clear age zones, so toddlers, kids, and tweens each get space that suits them. That means fewer bumps, less crowding, and more confident play. Soft flooring underfoot cushions tumbles. Enclosed areas help younger children feel secure. Clear sightlines let you keep an eye on your child from your seat.

Parents get close, shaded seating that feels like courtside seats. Restrooms sit nearby, and pram-friendly paths make moving around simple. You can sip a coffee while kids run, climb, and ride.

Water slide at Tembali Party Park

Safety sits at the center of every event. Staff are present and ready to help. First-aid basics are on hand, and the team guides families during light-weather shifts for the event. Clean-up happens between parties, so each group starts fresh. Parking is simple and close, which saves time when you arrive with bags, balloons, and cake, especially for families from Sandton or Randburg.

Safe, age-zoned play areas for toddlers, kids, and tweens

Age-appropriate zones help children play at their own pace. Toddlers get soft surfaces and enclosed spaces for early climbing and balance. Older kids can take on bigger slides and more active games without knocking into little ones. Tweens get room to roam, which keeps the energy high and the squabbles low.

soft play area at Tembali Party Park

Parents can see all the action from multiple angles. The design minimizes blind spots and keeps exits controlled. Staff are visible and friendly, so you know where to go for help. First-aid readiness is part of the setup.

Comfortable parent seating, shade, and coffee while kids play

You should not have to choose between watching and relaxing. Shaded seating rests near the play areas, so you can spot your child and chat with friends. Paths are pram-friendly, so younger siblings can tag along without stress. Restrooms and baby changing are nearby, which cuts down on back-and-forth trips.

Coffee and simple refreshments are available for low-effort hosting. The idea is simple, keep parents comfortable, keep kids engaged, and let the party run itself. Among Johannesburg venues, this setup makes venue hire straightforward for hassle-free fun.

Clean, secure grounds with friendly staff and easy parking

The park limits access with gates to keep kids safe inside, creating a true private venue feel. You will meet helpful coordinators who guide set-up, answer questions, and assist with function planning. Parking is clear and close to the entrance, which makes arrival and pack-up faster.

Cleanliness matters. Teams tidy and sanitize between groups, so your area feels fresh at the start. If the weather looks hot or slightly rainy, staff help with shaded seating or light cover. Flexibility goes a long way, and the team knows how to keep momentum even when the forecast shifts.

Party packages and planning: what is included and how to book

Good parties run on simple plans. Tembali Party Park gives you a clear base package, then you can add extras as needed. The team handles the venue setup and basic seating, and you bring the personal touches that make your child’s theme shine. If you have been comparing options for a party venue Johannesburg locals use, start by mapping your needs to the park’s package tiers.

What the Tembali Party Park package includes and what is extra.

Here is what many families expect:

  • Reserved party space with tables and seating
  • Access to age-zoned play areas during your booked time
  • On-site coordinator support for set-up and basic guidance
  • Cleaning before and after your time slot
  • Optional add-ons, like decor themes or party hosts

You control the extras. Bring your own cake, or ask about in-house refreshments. Keep the plan lean, or go big with face painting, simple games, or party packs. The goal is a fun day that feels easy to run, turning the whole function into a smooth experience.

Booking is straightforward. Pick a date, select a package level, and confirm details with the team. Weekends fill up fast, so lock in early. Ask about weekday options if your schedule is flexible. Always check the contact page on tembali.co.za for the latest availability and terms.

Packages for different ages and group sizes

Every party looks a little different. Expect a reserved party space, basic setup support, and optional add-ons. Bring your own décor, add a party host, or activities like face painting or craft tables. Keep it sweet and simple, or dial it up with a special highlight for the birthday child, including party entertainers.

Food, cake, and decor options that fit your budget

Decor at a party at Tembali Party Park

Bring your own or choose in-house options, it is your call. Many families like simple kid-friendly menus, such as sliders, fruit cups, and juice, with catering that keeps things allergy-aware and labeled so parents can relax. Order the cake early, and store it in a cool place until candle time. Decor works best when it sets up fast and packs down in minutes. Think banners, table accents, and one photo spot for the big moment. For quick party decor, focus on items that tie into your chosen theme without overwhelming the space.

Booking tips for this party venue in Johannesburg

  • Book 4 to 6 weeks ahead for weekends.
  • Confirm final headcount 3 to 4 days before your date.
  • Plan for heat or light rain with shade, water, and quick covers.
  • Ask about weekday slots for better availability and calm crowds

These steps make booking birthday parties at this party venue a breeze, ensuring everything aligns with your vision for the venue.

An ECD preschool on site: Tembali Preschool for early learning

The campus includes Tembali Preschool, an ECD program that uses play and routine to build strong early skills. Having a preschool on the same site as the party park adds layers of safety, familiarity, and community. Young children see spaces that feel welcoming, which helps them settle faster and enjoy new experiences. This venue’s family-friendly atmosphere even makes it suitable for events like a baby shower.

Parents appreciate the shared approach to safety and child-friendly design. Parking, entrances, and visible staff make daily drop-offs feel smooth. The learning spaces are set up for play with purpose, and children see the same friendly faces each day. For families with siblings, the shared campus can simplify logistics and foster a sense of belonging.

Tembali school

Play-based curriculum and caring teachers

Children learn best when play drives the day. Tembali Preschool uses a warm, structured plan that builds early literacy and numeracy through games, stories, music, and hands-on activities. Social skills grow as children share, take turns, and solve small problems. The staff are qualified and caring, with attention to each child in small groups. The tone stays calm, positive, and consistent.

Shared campus benefits: safety, routine, and familiar spaces

A single campus means aligned safety practices. Families follow a clear drop-off routine, and children get used to familiar gates, paths, and play areas. That sense of place reduces jitters and boosts confidence. The preschool and party park share a child-first design, from pathways to seating, which supports both learning and play. These facilities can also host a function in a dedicated function room, though the venue provides event space only and does not offer accommodation for overnight stays.

How to tour and enroll at Tembali Preschool

Ready to learn more? Visit tembali.co.za to find open days or request a tour. Bring a short list of questions, such as:

  • How does the curriculum support early reading and number sense?
  • What qualifications do teachers hold?
  • What does a typical day look like, from arrival to pick-up?

Popular terms can fill quickly. Submit your application early if you have a preferred start date.

Conclusion

Tembali Party Park, a garden venue in Sandton, brings the best parts of a family event into one place, safe play zones, comfortable parent seating, helpful staff, and an on-site ECD preschool for added confidence. This venue is ideal for kids’ parties, year-end functions, and even corporate events. If you are picking a party venue Johannesburg families trust, this is a strong choice. Visit tembali.co.za to check dates, packages, and add-ons, then book your spot before the weekend rush.

Ready to give your child a memorable kids party? Book now and relax, you are in good hands.

Interview with Kelly Ferreira, Founder and CEO of Tembali Party Park and Tembali Preschool.

  1. Kelly, take us back to the start. How did your events work evolve into opening the ECD school, and what pulled you into taking over Tembali Party Park as well?

Realizing the events industry wasn’t for me at the time, I went to study teaching, which I knew was always my passion, but the salary was just what put me off. But I went ahead anyway, I’ve taught for many years and when Covid struck, I lost my job and was forced to do what I’ve always wanted to do: open my own school. It began in my home. I then came to the open play date at Tembali party park, where I saw an opportunity to rent out a space. A year later the owners came to me telling me they were selling. I then jumped at the opportunity to buy the business from them.

  1. When you first stepped from events into early childhood education, what surprised you most about running a school day to day, and how did you adapt your systems and routines?

The demands of teaching have changed a lot, and as with everything in life, things have evolved. Besides the classroom, we are trying to give space and time for each child to learn in their own way.  Sometimes it’s been challenging to find constructive communications with parents, but I’ve learnt the value of these relationships along the way.

  1. You also have children with special needs. How do you plan learning so each child feels seen and supported, and what strategies help when a day goes off script?

So, I have provided the space for the Autistic group of kids which is run by Tanya, who instantly fell in love with our space and knew it would be perfect. Then with my little ones we interact at play time giving both groups of kids an opportunity to learn from each other. ’’Grow your own way‘’ rents on my property, allowing more opportunities for kids to be kids.

  1. On tough days, how do you cope emotionally and practically, and what habits keep you steady so the children and staff feel safe and calm?

On challenging days, I remind myself that children and staff mirror the energy I bring to the room. I take a few moments to breath deeply, ground myself and refocus on what I can control rather than what I can’t. I prioritize structure and clear communication. I make sure routines stay consistent because predictability gives everyone especially children a sense of safety. I focus on kindness, consistency and open communication so everyone feels supported.

  1. Tell me about your team. Who are the anchors in the school and the park, how do you grow their skills, and how do you keep morale high during busy seasons?
Tembali team
Tembali staff

My team are incredible, ranging from my teachers to my assistants, to my staff at Tembali party park. We have fun, I try and be honest with them. I learnt quickly communication is key and without it you fail. It doesn’t have to be hard or rude but honest and uplifting is what I find works, and showing them leadership. I lead by example and I work hard and they follow in my steps.

  1. You are a mom of two daughters. How do they shape the way you lead, set boundaries, and build a place you would trust for them, and what have they taught you about patience or play?

Being a mom to two girls has completely shaped the way I lead. They remind me daily of what children truly need – love, patience, understanding, and clear boundaries. Because of them I see every child in our care as someone’s whole world, and that’s what drives me to create a space I would trust for my own girls. A place where children feel safe, loved and cared for because without that children will not learn. Boundaries are important and when I set boundaries at school, I think how boundaries make my daughters feel secure at home. They’ve shown consistency isn’t strictness; it’s comfort. My girls have shown me that growth can’t be rushed, that every child has their own rhythm and that mistakes are part of learning. Through them I have learnt to slow down, listen more and let go of perfection. When I sit and watch my girls laugh and play it reminds me how good life is and what joy kids actually bring to everyday life. So every now and then stop in this rat race we live in and watch them and join in their silly games because it brings you back to reality and happiness.

  1. What does “quality” look like in your world, and how do you track it, from learning goals and safeguarding to incident logs, budgets, suppliers, and birthday cakes?

Quality isn’t about perfection, but about consistency, care and reflection in every detail. It’s how we care, reflect and keep improving. Quality to me is when children, families, and staff all feel that this is a place of trust, happiness and growth. Creating the best environment for them to learn and have the best parties. Safety is consistent. Quality shows up in the small things as much as the big ones. We track each child’s learning journey through regular observation, and check in with families. Safety and wellbeing come first. We review policies often; all staff are trained and confident in procedures and keep open communication. Every incident is logged, reviewed and used as a learning moment.  Quality doesn’t always mean expensive it means thoughtful. I plan budgets carefully with what really matters and what needs more attention in providing a safe environment

  1. Community matters in early years. How do you build honest partnerships with parents and local groups, handle complaints with care, and keep inclusion at the centre?

Looking ahead, my plans for Tembali is to deepen what we already do so well, creating a space for children where children feel safe and celebrated for who they are. We have big plans for Tembali while maintaining our special niche and creating a space where children can’t wait to come to. We are opening a home-schooling class for neurodivergent children next year which will allow a personal approach in teaching but still maintaining a social side to our space.

The party venue I want to maintain what we already have but on a bigger scale possibly and look at it maybe for older kids as well.

In three years, I’d love to be known not just as a preschool or venue, but as a community hub, a place where inclusion, kindness and learning through play are the heart of everything.
