Looking for some free online games as well as a chance to keep your brain ticking over? I’ve recently discovered a website that has a variety of fun, free and online games to choose from. Solitaire.org can keep you occupied on these chilly days and maybe give you a new skill too.
If you’re looking for a game to keep you busy this winter, you can crack out the board games or do video games. But if you’re looking for some free and fun online options, here they are!
Remember when computers first came out and everyone played Solitaire? This kind of reminds me of that, but this website also has a lot of other options too. I played a few games and took some screenshots. You can also have a turn to play too – it’s completely free.
Here are some of the games I tested on this site:
Solitaire
I enjoy this game. I’m used to playing it with actual cards, but it’s nice to see the digital cards stacked neatly. You can build your stacks of cards and attempt to get rid of the cards. There’s an undo option which I also used a lot plus you can also just start a new game.
There are also a load of other card games on the site.
Mahjong
This is a Chinese game with cubes that you have to pair off. There are different variations here, you can stick with the cubes:
Or do some cute animal matching:
This one is a super easy one suitable for the kiddies.
Match 3
I tried Zuma Ball which requires a bit of skill and aim to get three colour balls all in a row. You have to take into account the curvy line of balls moving so it takes a few times to get the hang of it. You shoot the ball from the bottom. But it’s fun. 🙂
Logic puzzles
Here you can try anything from Battleships to Crosswords to Soduku. I know my mom would love Soduku. The Battleships was fun because you have a realistic rocket exploding on your battleship.
Word
The one I really enjoyed was letter logic. It’s almost like a crossword but they give you the answers. So you just have to figure out where to put them.
I also tried Letter Scramble where they basically throw letters at you and you have to make words. I think this might be a nice one for my ESL students.
You can also do crosswords and wordsearches here.
So what was my favourite game? I liked the Letter Logic and Zuma Ball best. Not too difficult and fun!
What do you think? Give them a try and tell me which was your favourite. Go to Solitaire.org.
