Last week I attended a webinar organised by Ultimate Bundles (the people behind the Genius Blogger’s Toolkit) and their speaker (Pete McPherson) said something that resonated with me. He said that when he first saw the toolkit, he thought, it’s too overwhelming, you’d never be able to read and use all of it. However, a year later, he decided to buy it, and he says, there was one element of the toolkit that saved him time, about 10 minutes a day, and that has made the whole thing worth it for him.

I often find that’s how it is with buying courses. You might not use or need all of it, but there will be one thing in there that will really help you.

I remember when I read “The Blogger’s Survival Guide” by Lexie Lane and Becky McNeer – this one had a lot of technical help that helped me do my button and other things like that. Another one I learnt a lot from was Ruth Soukup’s “How to blog for Profit without Selling Your Soul,” which made the important point of creating good content before expecting to make money. Successful bloggers have been doing it for years.

So, there must be at least one thing that you can gain from this toolkit, and I will draw up a list so you can see what is in it. As a blogger, we are always trying to improve ourselves by getting educated on how to do a better job, and how to blog smarter with better results.

One hot topic this year in the toolkit is AI. It was really interesting listening to Pete in the webinar (you can find him on Do You Even Blog?). He made the point that AI is still lacking in accurateness and completeness. It seems that he needs to give ChatGPT multiple prompts before he gets what he wants. He does this by firstly giving it certain facts about what he wants to write (that it won’t sway from) and then gives it some kind of style guide ( I am… My brand is…. My writing style is… My audience is…). It sounds like you have to give it chunks at a time and tell it to rewrite things a lot (His go to prompt is: “Rewrite this funnier and more personable”) But he makes the point that everyone’s style is different and you should find your own adjectives.

Pete has even developed an application called fabbi.ai where you can bulk create posts as many as seven at a time. And you can get three months credit of this app when you get the toolkit if you buy today or tomorrow.

So.. you might be wondering.. what do I think of all of this after I wrote this post on AI.

Well, I still think that bots writing blog posts is not a good idea.

In fact, I really liked what Julia Chenell says in her podcast “My Great Act of Rebellion Against AI”

I would like to make a very strong, unfounded, non scientific hypothesis that says that if we as humans stop writing, our civilisation will fail and maybe get lost.

You don’t have to be a historian to know that when the great Roman Empire finally fell and the burning of the library at Alexandria, our entire civilisation went into a dark ages that lasted for like, I don’t know, what, 700 years or something ridiculous. We were set back.

In the information age, information is just there, it’s available, it’s at your fingertips. And we’ve really advanced our civlisation exponentially as that has happened. And here comes AI. And what happens if a whole large segment of the population stops writing and lets AI do the writing for us?

It’s an unpopular act of rebellion to carry on writing yourself when a machine can do it for you.

But this gift of writing is something we are celebrating in our #BYYPBAwards and I’m so looking forward to reading the gems that our writers have to offer us.

I’m a bit sad for Pete, because elsewhere on his YouTube he shows how does some really good blog posts with his own pictures. He’s a good blogger, it’s just so tempting to use the machine instead of working hard.

So, while I’m not a huge fan of AI, I am a huge fan of the rest of the Genius Blogger’s toolkit.

Honestly, it’s like Black Friday for bloggers. A huge amount of value for the fraction of the price.

How to get the most out of it?

Go through everything and select the ones you know you will use. I know I’ll use the templates. I often do gift guides and that one will really help. There are loads of canva templates in there.

I’m definitely going to read the one about selling your online course on autopilot (could always use that for my course!)

There’s a lot of the SEO side that I want to learn, and even try out the template pack.

I need some help with Facebook, and there’s an ebook for that.

There’s a course on WordPress, and I’m always interested in that.

There’s even a photography course, which I’m always looking to improve.

Out of all the bonuses I’m more interested in the geek clinic and the blog fixer – I’ve already bought from the blog fixer in the past (when Google Analytics updated ) and I know she’s good.
