Noir Hair Studio is right in the middle of Bryanston. 309 Bryanston Rd to be precise. So you’d expect them to be terribly expensive and out of reach for normal folk like us. But if you venture there you’ll find them very down to earth, and they don’t charge Bryanston prices either.
The owner of the salon is Isabel Ngulube, who is also a blogger at MzansiFro. I credit Isabel for making me look so fantastic at our last #JoziMeetup. You’ll see Isobel on the left in this pic with fellow bloggers Funso and Olerato.
I had half my hair coloured by David at her salon. Now normally with previous hair stylists that I have been to, when they do half a head it really means just that top bit. I would say David actually did more like three quarters of the head. He also mixed things up not just doing blonde but alternating blonde and light brown so that when the colour grows out it won’t look so unnatural. In fact it looks pretty natural (sun kissed) now.
He then asked if he could do what he liked for the blow dry and I said yes. I normally always go for the normal bob look but this time he curved my hair very stylishly. My hair tends to scoop in on the one side and up on the other and with this style it complimented its natural tendencies.
The stylists she employs have 12 years of experience between them and have also done internship at Franco International. They use both Joico and Matrix products. One of their most popular treatment is Brazilian Cacau which is also a lot cheaper than what you’ll find at other stylists in the area. Also check out the “silk press” which you will find demonstrated in video on their social media pages.
Next door to the hair salon is Dr Baumann, They are a beauty salon that also do a lot of other aesthetic procedures. It was thanks to them that my face was presentable at the #JoziMeetup! That concealer stick worked wonders!
