Win a R2000 getaway voucher with SA-Venues.com

May 11, 2018 by Heather Step 27 Comments

The thing that moms want most of all on Mother’s Day is a break.

Just a break.

This could be not having to cook dinner, a few stolen hours at a spa or possibly just a deep bath undisturbed from bath toys and “Mommeee!”

What if you could have a real break, away from the constraints of normal life and get away with your partner or bring the family too if you wanted? This could be just what you need to refresh body, mind and soul.

SA-Venues.com is treating one lucky mom and her family to an absolutely fabulous prize – a R2 000 voucher for any accommodation booked from their site. So, whether you’d simply like a romantic weekend in a nearby town or you’d prefer to use your prize to help organise the family holiday of a lifetime, SA-Venues.com will be part of creating this special experience.

To enter, comment on the blog or Facebook post and tell us about your favourite South African destination and why you love it. Share it with your other mom friends that would appreciate a few days away.

NEED SOME INSPIRATION?

Just look at a tiny selection of the places that SA-Venues.com has listed on their website:

For those wanting to escape to Plettenberg Bay on the Garden Route, you could stay at the rustic log cabins of Moonshine on Whiskey Creek in the Crags

or opt for a more opulent treat at the Ocean Watch Guesthouse, where the garden and swimming pool boast breath-taking views of the ocean.

Utter tranquillity awaits guests of the Riverman Cabin in Dullstroom,

while the lucky winner could also choose to enjoy their getaway in Clarens and stay at the charming Mt Horeb Manor.

Aloha is in Paternoster on the West Coast, and promises the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the quaint allure of the fishing village.

If you’d prefer to be in St Francis Bay, i-Lollo Lodge is right at the mouth of the Kromme River, overlooking the sea.

Franschhoek is so special, who wouldn’t want to spend their romantic weekend in the heart of the Winelands? Although you’d have to pay in a little extra, Centre-Ville Guest House will be an absolute treat and, with your voucher, a steal for the luxury on offer.

The Umgeni Valley Reserve (Natal Midlands) is ideal for a getaway with the kids and has loads of trails to explore and animals to see.

In the raw and untainted beauty of the Cederberg, lap up the natural beauty when you stay at the Enjo Nature Farm in the exquisite Biedouw Valley;

or go fishing, canoeing and swimming in the clear river waters around Mount Ceder Lodge.

I absolutely love visiting the Midlands and Drakensberg in KZN and always feel totally de-stressed after being there. The fresh mountain air, the calming surroundings…what more can one ask for.

It would have to be Robertson in the Western Cape. Lovely wineries, nature reserves and spas to help you relax and enjoy some me time.

Franshoek for my 15th anniversary in June. That would be perfect.

I have a few faves, but I must choose one – I think relaxing at the beach is my fave seeing as I grew up in Durban and miss swimming at the beach so much 🙂

  12. Hayley Malan says

I absolutely love the Garden route but haven’t dared to take the long drive from the Cape since the kids were born.
I think they are now old enough to withstand the long drive 🙂

I have been wanting to go to Cape Town since forever. Would love to use it for an indulgent weekend break to anywhere in our beautiful Cape

  14. Nicola says

    May 11, 2018 at 10:21 pm

For me, it has to be the Cape. There’s just so much to do in terms of variety. No matter how many times I go, I’d wanna go back. The sunset views from the different beaches, with picturesque views of the mountain…whale watching in Hermanus or a romantic picnic in the winelands. If you’re up for a party, then you’ll be spoiled for choice on the infamous Long street in the city Centre. Factory shops galore…if I go on…it’s gonna be like a blog post lol…so let me just stop right here….oh wait…, just outside the Cape…I love Arniston too ❤️❤️❤️ Need to do this with my child, who we haven’t as yet taken to the beautiful Cape

  15. Sara Essop says

    May 11, 2018 at 9:26 pm

As a resident of Johannesburg, I love going for weekend getaways to Magaliesberg, just over an hour away. When the city stress starts getting to me and I need to take a quick break amid nature, then that’s where I head with my family. Its proximity to Johannesburg is a huge plus, making it a perfect weekend getaway within easy reach. There are plenty of beautiful lodges in the surrounding areas and many of them have amazing spas – just what I need to de-stress and recharge.

Paternoster!! A stroll on the Paternoster beach makes you forget all your troubles!! I long for a weekend on the coast. Fingers crossed.

  18. Sharleen says

  23. Janel Sunderlall says

It would have to be San lameer on the south coast which i haven’t been to ages.

  24. Lynn Botha says

    May 11, 2018 at 1:07 pm

My favourite destination is Citrusdal.. The Baths.. They have various options of accommodation, but the chalets inside the Kloof are absolutely amazing.. It has everything you need (some with and some without tv depending on what you want). It has its own private Jacuzzi on the patio, you can sit it in and observe the nature in front of you. The kids have an absolute ball, there is a huge hot pool and a cold pool within walking distance from the chalets. Its self catering with its own braai, and if you don’t feel like cooking.. they have a very reasonably priced restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

  25. Luchae Williams says

    May 11, 2018 at 1:00 pm

Knysna – It was our honeymoon destination and holds a special, magical place in our hearts 🙂

  26. Susann says

    May 11, 2018 at 1:00 pm

I love going up to Limpopo or Mpumalanga – and always push to go into the Kruger Park. Those 2 provinces are just out of this world – from valleys to mountains, farms, wildlife and clean rivers. My heart is always in Magoebaskloof.

  27. Kim Muller says

    May 11, 2018 at 12:57 pm

I love the West Coast and staying at Calypso Beach would be first prize. My kids love the water and my husband is an avid fisherman. I just love being new the ocean, hearing the waves crashing on the shore, smelling that fresh salty breeze coming in through the window. Carefree, open, wonderful!
