In the past year I’ve really been trying to make more of an effort to figure out Instagram, but there are so many things that were a bit beyond me, it was all a bit hit and miss. What I have tried to do is educate myself and learn some skills to produce better content and fully utilise the app. Nuriyah Gallow has put together a course called “The Influencer Insider Academy” and this course has really helped me get a better handle on what’s going on and how to produce better content.
Nuri has divided up the course into different sections:
- Back to basics
- Setting your business up for success
- Building your media kit and setting prices
- Building Brand relationships and negotiation strategies
- Create content that sets you apart
- Basic video editing and story telling techniques
- Analysing your insights for optimisation
What I liked about this course:
- It’s very practical and step by step. Nuri shows screen shots and explains things well.
- Engagement is compared to sitting next to someone – if you are not conversing with them, and being interested in their life, how can you expect them to comment and engage in yours?
- I liked that she mentions building relationships with other influencers and not just the brands. (Although this is definitely covered together with negotiation strategies) She makes the point that each other’s audiences will be exposed in a joint venture and brands like seeing professional people who build each other up and don’t get stuck in the drama.
- Creating a professional media kit is definitely important, and Nuri has some good tips on what to include.
- I liked what she said about pricing: how it is the quality of your content that will also be a huge factor, and not just the formulas (although she does give those).
- I really liked the ideas for tech set up, and I have some things I want to get on my wish list.
- The best was how to do a green screen effect! I am definitely going to use this. It’s been a real issue for me having a better background than my teaching wall, so this is helpful.
- There was a bonus lesson at the end from Rolene Naffouj about being aligned and real with who you are as a brand that really resonated with me as well.
