Eight Mom Websites and Online Magazines in South Africa to trust for Parenting Tips

May 31, 2026 by Heather Step 2 Comments

Looking for an online blog or publication for mom advice and support? It may feel harder than going into your child’s very messy room and trying to sort it out. But, never fear. I’ve got you covered with these suggestions for different stages of your journey. Whether you’re in the thick of the baby stage, or just want some notifications of kid friendly events in your city, here are eight places that you can scroll through to find a mom website.

Mom reading on her tablet. Finding the right mom website is tough but we have a list.

Key Takeaways

  • Prioritize Localized Content: Choose platforms that reflect South African schools, seasons, and family lifestyles to ensure the advice you receive is actually practical and relevant.
  • Match Your Parenting Season: Use specific sites for your current phase of motherhood—such as Baby Yum Yum for the newborn stage or Kids Connection for school-age activity ideas—to keep your reading focused and useful.
  • Seek Human, Relatable Voices: Look for sites that offer honest, lived-in experiences rather than cold, clinical advice to help reduce feelings of overwhelm and mom guilt.
  • Curate Your Resources: You do not need to follow every blog; select a few high-quality, trusted platforms that resonate with your specific needs to keep your information intake manageable.

What makes a good mom website in South Africa?

The mom websites that I have selected not only have good content, they have staying power. They keep on putting out content over the years. I get notifications from Feedspot once a week and I see they are putting out new articles and I click on a few. They aren’t flash in the pan websites that have come and gone. They have been around and continue to put out interesting articles we can all benefit from.

A good site also offers a good mix of relatable content and professional advice. They also have a community aspect, so watch out for them on Facebook and Instagram so you can follow along.

1. South African Mom Blogs for community, creator tips, and real-life parenting

More than standard parenting posts, it mixes family content with product reviews, local creator interviews, and practical help for mums who blog or want to start. If social media tips, templates, or simple creator advice would make life easier, this is a smart bookmark. It is especially useful for busy mums who like parenting content but also want to build something of their own.

What I’ve done with the pop up menu is give you three areas of interest to join in as a subscriber: mom influencer, mom or blogger. And that kind of sums it up.

I highly suggest you check out my resource page as well where I’ve laid out places you can sign up to make money as a mom influencer, tools that I use, and resources on pregnancy, baby, children and teens. You can also check out my AI tools for content creation and finding business ideas.

2. Baby Yum Yum for pregnancy, babies, and early parenting

baby yum yum mom website

Baby Yum Yum is a natural first stop for pregnancy news, baby names, and kids nutrition. It serves as a comprehensive resource for pregnancy, newborn care, feeding, sleep, and the early years. First-time mums often want clear, stage-based reading, and this site helps because it does not expect you to know the jargon before you arrive.

More than that though, we have a personal relationship with the amazing staff at this place. Yes, guys I’ve actually visited their offices, interviewed Amanda on a summit and they helped us with the Parenting Blog Awards. They are big on collaboration and are always bursting with new ideas. Check out their parenting tools.

Parenting Hub

3. Parenting Hub for everyday family guidance

Parenting Hub is a reliable source for day-to-day family reading. The articles focus on essential child development milestones, research-based advice, effective discipline strategies, and helpful tips for household management.

I’ve noticed they put out a LOT of articles each week. They also have some resources on education and a directory.

4. Kids Connection for child-focused ideas and family activities

Kids Connection is useful when your children are older and you need ideas rather than theory. This site is excellent for finding learning activities, insights into child education, and a variety of family activities or homeschooling resources. They also put out a lot of posts.

5. Mother and Child Magazine for broader parenting and lifestyle reading

Mother and Child magazine

Mother and Child Magazine suits readers who prefer a professional magazine feel rather than quick-fix posts. You get a broader mix of parenting, lifestyle, and even updates on celebrity parents, so it works well when you want reading that grows with you beyond the baby stage.

6. Fun Mamma SA for lighter, relatable motherhood content

fun mamma blog

Fun Mamma SA is a nice pick when you want something quicker, warmer, and easier to browse between school runs, feeds, or late-night scrolling. The tone is relaxed, the motherhood moments feel familiar, and the tips help you navigate your day.

Judy is an award winning blogger and the other useful thing about her posts is that they will tell you what’s happening locally, particularly in Cape Town. Check out our blog post on her.

7. Elana Afrika’s Parent & Baby Brunch for parenting conversations and community

Elana Afrika's parent and baby brunch

Elana Afrika’s Parent & Baby Brunch is a good choice if you want parenting content with a more community-led feel. It brings together motherhood, baby topics, and real conversations that many South African mums will relate to. If you like reading that feels personal and connected, this one belongs on your list. She also has a podcast to listen to.

We’ve also got a personal connection with Elana because she has done several judging stints on our blog awards. Thank you, Elana!

Just a mamma Mari Louise

8. Just a Mamma for honest, relatable motherhood content

Just a Mamma is a strong pick for mums who want honest, down-to-earth parenting reading. It feels personal, warm, and easy to relate to, which makes it useful when you want real-life motherhood content rather than polished advice.

Mari-Louise is someone who really gives us a lot of wisdom and is really just an amazing person to talk to. Check out this interview I did with her on Instagram.

Reginal magazines to follow

Johannesburg: JoziKids – a great directory of resources.

Gqeberha / PE: 041Online – edited by Eleanor Douglas-Meyers, who we’ve featured for her crafts, the book she co-wrote, and interviewed her as well.

Durban: Unfold Durban

Cape Town: Cape Town Mommy featuring Jaclyn, who we’ve featured before, as well as Judy from Fun Mamma SA (6 above)

Conclusion

At the end of the day, it’s good to ask: What parenting stage am I in? What information do I most need right now? What kind of style am I looking for? Whether you’re looking for information or you want to know you’re not alone as a mom, there are many useful websites and blogs out there. Have a look around and check out the resources for one of the most important journeys you’ll ever take.

Just to say, two weeks ago I didn't post any photos. We had an awful time in Uitenhage and for the first time actually skipped a round and went home early enough before it got dark.

Just remember that winning only comes after those tough times.

OH and my wall is finally up! Major victory!

I really feel like we turned a corner this weekend.
After days of pain, Nicky had dental work done and he is no longer in pain. Such a nice emergency dentist who met us on Saturday afternoon to get things done.
Also the airsoft gun is finally working!
After weeks of getting the charger sorted we realised the batteries weren't fitting in the gun. Thank God for Linda and her crew at @planet_paintball.pe who exchanged a part to make the whole thing work and let Nicky try it out with some other people. At no cost. We are so grateful.

Last Sunday night we heard a crash but I thought it was from the other side. I thought I should look at my phone to see what was going on and saw missed calls from my neighbor.

Some guy had literally driven into my wall.

So while we have been dealing with fixing walls, insurance claims and a lot of follow up, what is a girl to do but take refuge in a chocolate desert?
