Step One: Set up

In this step we will look at working out what you want to blog about, the mechanics of how you set up your host, your domain name and add WordPress to your site. I’ll show you step by step how I did it with domain registration, choosing a host and setting up WordPress.

Step Two: Make your blog look gorgeous!

First impressions count and you can create a beautiful, professional looking website by knowing how to add a theme and where to find one. In the course I’ll show you how I loaded a free, beautiful theme from Kadence and some other options as well. In this section we will also learn how to make a logo and a flavicon (the little icon at the top of your webpage). You’ll create a menu and four essential pages for your blog. I’ll also show you how to do an SEO friendly permalink (the url of your blog posts).

Step Three: Building Content and Community

I’ll show you, step by step, how to do a blog post and tips for writing good content.

How do you create a community? You engage on social media. I’ll show you how to post your posts there. More importantly, to make yourself independent of social media (who can kick you out if they feel like it) you need to build an email list. I’ll show you how to set one up, create an opt-in form and how to send out a newsletter.

I’ll also show you some essential plugins to keep your site safe, track your stats and get people to share your posts.

Step Four: Monetise your blog

I’ll give you some starting points to make money from your blog and places to sign up.
