Today we having a giveaway for five families to go to the movies to the the animated film “Dragon Rider.” This is a very cute story that the kids will love, and it’s as good excuse as any to get back into the cinemas.
You might be wondering if it’s safe to venture into the movies again but rest assured that everyone in the industry has been working hard to keep your health as top priority. There is even a website dedicated to getting people back to the big screen (#gobigagain)
Safety protocols that are in place are:
- Online bookings are encouraged. This means you don’t have to queue and get close to people at the venue. You can also order your snacks this way.
- Wear your mask. You are allowed to take it off during the movie while eating snacks and then put it back on.
- On entry you will sanitise your hands and your temperature will be taken.
- Social distancing is put in place. In this review the author notes that certain seats were blocked out and they also had to leave the theatre a row at a time starting from the back. He also noted that popcorn is now sealed off and the seasoning is provided in sachets.
- Venue capacity is enforced. This is controlled through ticket sales.
- Cleaning and sanitising is done after each show. They are also particularly paying attention to so called “high touch points” like kiosks and self service terminals.
- Staff are further trained in cleanliness such as hand washing.
You can read more about the Covid-19 precautions on both Ster Kinekor and NuMetro’s sites.
With all of that out of the way, let’s get on to talking about the movie.
“Dragon Rider” is based on the best selling book by German author Cornelia Funke. The story is about how Firedrake the dragon discovers that his home is no longer safe because humans intend to flood it so he sets off on an adventure to find the “Rim of Heaven” – a mythological safe haven for dragons. Along the way he is helped by a his forest brownie friend Sorrel as well as a boy called Ben, an orphan they save along the way. Ben is the dragon rider.
There is magic, mystery and of course a bad guy (Nettlebrand) that they have to deal with before they get there. Check out the movie trailer:
Dragon Rider releases on the 23rd of October.
