{Product Review} Dead Sea skin care with Mineraline

March 7, 2018 by Heather Step 22 Comments

The last time I used a skin care product that had dead sea product in it was when my husband was walking around in the mall and was accosted by a very lovely Israeli woman. He couldn’t say no to her and landed up buying me this mostly lovely scrub, the container of which I still use in the bathroom. Today I’m going to tell you all about Mineraline which uses Dead Sea minerals and is available at Dischem.

I was lucky enough to bump into Nicole from Autograph PR who was organising the relaunch at Js Revive Wellness Spa. She was telling me about how lovely these products are and I’ve been testing them out.

So what is so special about products that use the Dead Sea minerals? This mass of water is well known for its high salt content. My mom once went on a trip and had a fab time floating around. The Dead Sea actually contains 21 minerals including magnesium, calcium, sulfur, bromide, iodine, sodium, zinc and potassium. These are essential minerals which already occur in our bodies but are lost throughout the day and must be replaced.

According to Wikipedia, the Dead Sea salt is only 30% of the normal table salt, the rest is dried minerals and salts. There have been shown to be benefits in such conditions as arthritis, skin ailments, allergies and the depth of skin wrinkling.

So we know that there are loads of benefits to any skin care product made with these substances. But let’s look a bit deeper at a few I tried out in the Mineraline range.

Gentle Foaming Face Wash

A very fresh gel. I have been using this at night in the bath to clear off all the dirt and makeup. You can definitely smell the alcohol in it. The Dead Sea minerals combine with the antioxidant and astringent benefits of Witch Hazel. It cleanses while also giving anti-aging, anti-inflammatory and moisturising properties.

Dead Sea Mud Peel-Off Mask

Last Saturday night Nicky and I had fun with this mask. He loves painting his face so he was very amused by my blackened features. I also decided to use some on the back of his arms where some pimples are cropping up. My skin was definitely more radiant after using this product. Apart from drawing out impurities, this mask repairs blemishes as well as soothes with the aloe vera.

Rebalancing Day Cream

I’ve been using this every morning and it’s very soothing. Make up also glides on very easily over this cream which moisurises without leaving it feeling greasy. The hydration comes from Shea Butter and aloe vera. Your skin is also boosted with Vitamin E and Rosemary Oil.

Antioxidant Vitaserum

Give your face the rejuvenation and vitamins you need with this very lightweight product. Vitamin C stimulates collagen formation for firming skin. Together with Vitamin E they repair and prevent spots, lines and other day to day exposure to the elements. Vitamin B5 soothes, heals and hydrates your skin.

Time It Serum

If you’re looking for an anti-aging product, this is it. It reduces wrinkle depth, while toning, firming and hydrating the skin. It combines the Dead Sea minerals with the recently discovered Uniprosyn Ps-18 Uniprotect Pt-3 which stimulate the production of skin barrier proteins for skin integrity and flexibility. It also helps maintain water retention in the skin cells, reducing facial lines.

Spot Cleansing Solution

This is a great one for pimples and I’m trying it with Nicky and his arms too. This formula incorporates salicylic acid which helps clear and prevent blemishes. It also has nourishing and hydrating ingredients such as allantoin, aloe vera, Vitamin B5 to sooth and soften.

Mineral Foot Cream

It’s no good having a lovely pedicure without having soft feet to show it off! Use the Dead Sea minerals along with Shea Butter, Aloe Vera, Jojoba and Avocardo Oil to soften thick, callused skin. Renew your feet with Vitamin E, Rosemary and Tea Tree Leaf Oil

Invigorating Aloe Vera Gel

I’m a big believer in always having Aloe around in the house: you never know when you’re going to get burnt and this substance is brilliant for burns. Plus of course sunburn, insect bites, skin abrasions and irritations as it quickly cools, soothes and renews.

You can even use it on your hair and scalp to promote hair growth and condition your hair, as well as prevent itching and dandruff.

Dischem is having a special on where if you buy three products you get this nifty face cleaner until 11 March 2018. It has a silicone brush which you can feel cleans very thoroughly. Nicky likes to climb up onto the basin so that he can reach the window sill where it sits in its nifty holder and turn the button on and off!

Disclosure: I was given the products.

There is another option.

User generated content is where you produce content for brands, and it really doesn't matter how many followers you have.

I know. Time flies. How did we get here?

I loved the quotes on the walls and the art work of the students. If I had to do school again, I think I'd do more art and cooking.

What would you do?

Anyway, let's hope Nicky gets accepted somewhere for next year. These applications are a lot of work. But I've done 3 of them now.

Nicky really likes this school. And of course he went straight for the chess.

But I needed to do something different. I needed to turn it around for the light. But the alarm antenna stuck out in the corner.

I was busy doing a blog post on bringing nature into your home and I got inspired to put a green feature there and bring in two flower pots. I also got some baskets to clear the clutter.

Update on Survivor PE: We have intermittent water Update on Survivor PE: We have intermittent water but no power. Lastest news is we might have it by Thursday but I'm not holding my breath.

When the city tells you that you're not going to h When the city tells you that you're not going to have power for two weeks!

A huge pylon collapsed due to vandalism, wind and rust.

And then your water goes...

You freak out and then you make a plan.
For the first morning, I hot spotted.

Then in the afternoon I went to my mom to teach the rest of my classes.

Since then I have basically moved all my food over to her house and started cooking there as well. I'm also going there to charge everything.

There's no point even using the gas when all the food needs to be kept cold so it needs to be done in one place.

For the water, I now have a system. We flush the toilet with pool water. Wash ourselves and dishes with tank water. And drink from the little tank.

Nicky has also adapted and is enjoying Granny's chairs.

Oh, and I've also been restyling furniture in my study. If the light is in front of me, it is better. I've been dealing with work assessments.

But we can't wait for the lights to come back on and running water.

Until then, I'm super grateful for family.

"Humbled" I asked Nicky how he felt after a week "Humbled"

I asked Nicky how he felt after a week of Mzanzi, the interprovincial chess tournament. Nicky played Board 1 for Eastern Cape A team. That meant that he faced the top players in his age category from all over the country.

He won 3 and lost 3 for the team section.

Tuesday was especially brutal. Three rounds in one day (9am, 2pm and 7pm).

He was also not well. Sore throat and coughing. We went to the doctor on Wednesday, missed the team photos and continued on with the individual competition.

The individual one can take up to four hours. Nicky was doing about an average of three.

He won 2 and drew 4. From a starting rank of 6 he ended up 17.

"They don't make any mistakes" he said.

Last night we watched Mission Impossible with Tom Cruise getting himself out of the submarine. I told Nicky that whatever difficult position he finds himself in, he can do it.

He drew the last one.

I'm super proud of him and what he has endured this week. It hasn't been easy. He has tried his best. And, like all the other chess parents, I've sat there and waited.

For me it's not about where he came. It's the joy of the game. While the team prize giving went on, we played in the arcade. After the individual game was done we played in the escape room. (We totally weren't able to escape but it was an experience)

Wherever this chess journey takes him, I will follow and support. And always help him find the joy. ♟️
