Today we meet South African mom blogger Tash, who blogs at Millennial Momma.
1) What do you normally get up to on an average day? (Give us a brief description about yourself)
My name is Tash and I am a proud momma bear. What I may lack in age, I sure do make up for in love!
I am a Christian, a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a woman and a financial administrator on the side 😉 in the moments when I should be catching my breath I blog over at www.millennialmomma.co.za
My days are filled with meeting all the demands of the different areas of my life! I do find time to take part in a couple of ‘me’ things like bullet journaling, binge-watching series and sneaking out with my handsome husband (Daddydaims) for all you can eat sushi.
I’m on an incredible fitness journey called: Keeping up with my toddler.
2) How do you feel about motherhood – what are your struggles and joys?
I stumbled into motherhood when I was 21 years old and have been pretty much winging it since.
My feelings surrounding the topic of motherhood are constantly at war. One half of me is all ‘women have been doing it for centuries, it’s simple!’ and the other half is banging her head against the shower door to the steady rhythm of ‘Why. Is. This. So. Hard.’
My struggle at this point in my journey of motherhood is definitely the first two numbers of my ID. I find it difficult to find ‘mom friends’ my age and that was unexpected as I watched far too many movies and always assumed once you had a baby your ‘mom gang’ would instantly appear and our days would suddenly be filled with coffee dates, yoga classes, wine nights and sitting on a park bench watching the kids play while we moan about our husbands (as you can see in this fantasy Momma Tash doesn’t have a job)
My joy is my precious little girl. She makes anything and everything worth it.
3) Tell us about your kid(s)
My kid is the wonderful human hurricane known as Arabella Jane! She is the funniest, smartest, weirdest little kid you’ll ever meet and to know her is to love her.
She is so friendly that she has a hard time making friends and that breaks this momma’s heart. The other kids don’t know what to make of her hugs, kisses and hand-grabbing to lead them on an adventure.
She is also super pretty! We are constantly stopped by tannie’s gushing at how gorgeous she is.
4). How did you start blogging?
At some stage of my pregnancy I realised I would have to actually give birth to a baby and a government hospital was my only option.
And as we all know government hospitals have a truly terrible rep in our country, so to psych myself up I started doing my research and found diddly-squat with the exception of the horror story news articles (which definitely did nothing to calm my nerves and ease my fears) so I decided to start my blog and my first couple of posts were all about my ‘Going Government’ in the hopes that a scared mom-to-be would stumble across my first hand account and breathe a little easier.
I guess you could say my entire blog originated from the idea of a single post, which is mad now that I think of it!
5) Share with us a valuable blogging tip you’ve learnt. (or more)
In my year of blogging I learnt many tips of which the most valuable one would definitely be to stay true to yourself – there are a crazy amount of mom blogs out there and you need to be 100000% yourself to get even one genuine reader.
6) If you make money from your blog, give us a breakdown on how you do it. Give us some of your methods on how to get started on this, or any tips or advice.
At the moment the only payment I receive comes from comments of ‘Oh my gosh, me too!’ and when I get a notification of a new subscriber (I do a happy dance each and every time!) One day I hope to be making some seriaaas ching from my blog, as soon as I do I will share my methods with you.
If you want to come play with us, you can do so below 😊
