Today we meet South African mom blogger Lauren Vogel who blogs at Cool Kids Only.
1)What do you normally get up to on an average day? (Give us a brief description about yourself)
When I’m not working I am usually splitting my time between making sure my 11 year old is on track with his academics and sports. I am also part of his soccer team’s fundraising club so, if I’m not attending brainstorming meetings, I am on the field physically. If I do have a bit of free time, I’ll used it to research for my blog or read a good book.
2) How do you feel about motherhood – what are your struggles and joys?
I have always loved being a mom. My son is such a pleasant and intelligent person and it’s been amazing to see how his personality has developed over the years. My favourite thing about being a mom is literally just getting to spend time together. We have a lot in common. The struggles of motherhood is being worried all the time. You worry that you are not doing enough and you worry that you are doing too much. The worrying does not stop.
3) Tell us about your kid(s)
Xylon is an 11 year old breath of fresh air. Of course I might be a little biased, but he is literally the best person I know. He loves mathematics, soccer and gaming and hopes to one day develop his own games.
4) How did you start blogging?
I started blogging as a project in varsity. I didn’t pay attention to the blog for a while at first. Eventually, I started blogging more frequently and taking it seriously.
5) Share with us a valuable blogging tip you’ve learnt. (or more)
Be yourself unapologetically. It’s exhausting trying to keep up with what other bloggers are doing and often it does not guarantee views. Enjoy the content you post and spend time researching everything related to blogging and social media.
6) If you make money from your blog, give us a breakdown on how you do it. Give us some of your methods on how to get started on this, or any tips or advice.
Like I said I only recently started taking blogging seriously and I don’t make money from my blog yet. There are a few brands that I would love to work with however so fingers crossed it happens this year.
