There is something about spending time with someone who wants to take care of you in some way that is incredibly comforting and rebuilding of yourself. I think that afternoons at the beauty salon or the hair salon are the epitome of the “me-time” that us as moms need so much to get back on our feet after dealing all day with the needs of other little humans. We are human too, with needs of our own that need nourishing, and one of those parts of ourselves that need looking after is our skin.
I have been sadly neglectful of my skin. In all honesty all I have been doing is applying a moisturiser that has SPF every morning and hoping that is going to be enough. But my skin has been dehydrated and crying out for some decent moisturising product.
Lamelle Research Laboratories, is, as the name implies, a more scientific and medical approach to skincare. They not only work with us normal plebs, but also in medicine, post operatively helping the skins of those who need it most.
Because a lot of research goes into their product formulation, their medical director Dr Bradley Wagemaker has experience in specialising in: medical aesthetics, postmenopausal gynecology, endocrinology and critical care medicine.
Lamelle also has a product for fertility called Prelox. This product works on male fertility which improves the volume, concentration, motility and morphology of semen. (Yes, sadly I know about all this kind of stuff).
Karen is the product specialist for the company and I was fortunate enough to have her do a skin analysis and treatment on my skin at the lovely Janine’s Skin and Body Clinic (in the same street as Trinity school in Randpark Ridge).
I think what I loved most about the consultation is that she really got me to open up about my skin problems and she listened to me and treated the problem areas.
First on my list of concerns was a very sunburnt décolletage, which is the area in front of the neck. As a teenager I ignored all warnings from my mother about sunburn and only thought of the short term gain of looking tanned. Karen suggested a peel for this area. It did sting a bit for a brief amount of time but the skin came out slightly lighter and softer. I think I would need repeats of this kind of treatment to fully remove the sun damage. But the products are also helping as well.
The other main area she picked up was my poor dehydrated skin which received a good moisture treatment. A facial is such a treat for me and not something I do often. (Although I should).
I left with a good set of products that would set me up for a good routine for my skin as well as take care of the problem areas. This is what I have landed up doing:
In the morning:
- Helase, Photo Repair Cream Factor 50: Broad Spectrum High Protection (she listened when I told her that I teach kids and am often outside in the sun). It both protects the skin from broadband radiation and also repairs newly formed damage to the DNA of skin cells – restoring them to normal functioning.
- Dermaheal Eye Regeneration Plus: This product is engineered to remodel the gentle and fragile components of eye skin and can aid eye treatments too. (Good for those bags under the eyes too).
At night:
- Serra Cleansing Gel for dry and atopic skin: It gently cleanses while enhancing the vital barrier of the skin. (I leave this in the bathroom for bath time)
- Serra Soothing Cream for dry and atopic skin: a good remedy for dry, red and irritated skin. It’s a restorer and a soother.
Really interesting about the Serra range: it doesn’t just place a single layer of moisture on your skin like conventional moisturisers, it recreates the human skin barrier – essentially replacing what is missing and eliminating the root cause of dry skin.
3. Correctives recharge CE complex: This is the vitamin effect of Vitamin C and E in a hydrating base. It doesn’t only hydrate your skin it also improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
So…. would you like to have the same experience I did? You can win a skin consultation with a Lamelle product specialist too. They will work on your problem areas and give you the skin care that you need.
