Exclusively designed and proudly locally made, Sebastian Baby Wear has officially launched their first location store, supplying consumers with an exclusive range of baby wear and accessories. Proud mom and now business owner, Tess Lakhani, started making baby clothes after her handsome boy Sebastian was born. She was frustrated that the baby outfits she owned didn’t allow for easy nappy changes or were uncomfortable, and had such a high price tag. Personally designed by Tessa and locally manufactured in Primrose Park, Athlone, Sebastian Baby Wear prides itself on its authentic South African manufacturing process from conceptualization to final garment delivery, creating jobs and opportunities for local seamstresses and pattern makers around the Cape who have been affected by job losses in the industry over the past decade, even though highly skilled.
Tessa recalls, “What started as a hobby in 2014, has blossomed into a fully operation business, forcing us to open our first showroom, which will hopefully snowball into a national roll out, bring SBW boys and girls wear to the entire country.” The growth of the business and range has necessitated Tessa to take her online business and open a location store allowing customers to touch, feel and experience the quality and passion that is Sebastian Baby Wear. SBW is now situated opposite the famous Cape Town Old Biscuit Mill in the midst of the trendy new Salt River Arcade in Woodstock, adding cuteness and quirkiness to the popular centre.
