We’re doing something completely different at this first #JoziMeetup for 2018: making you more involved in the process. We will be having a panel of bloggers and PR up front, answering your questions. Laura will also be talking on Pinterest and growing your blog through that medium. The event promises to be something special because the information you’ll receive will not only help grow your blog, it will be tailored to the questions the bloggers are asking.
Growing Your Blog With Pinterest:
Our resident social media expert, Laura le Roux, who you can also find blogging at Harassed Mom, and organising these events, will be talking about Pinterest. Laura also owns her own social media agency Speak Social. She is a mom of four: Cameron, Kiara, Jack and Emma.
Laura implemented a Pinterest strategy on her blog and found that these methods increased the traffic on her blog. She will be sharing these tips and learnings with us.
Your Questions Answered Panel:
Having studied skincare, it is something Sarah is passionate about and this is evident when reading her reviews on products as well as tips and tricks to help readers look the best that they can while still maintaining a healthy skin. Being a first time mom, Sarah writes candidly about navigating her way through pregnancy, motherhood and everything that comes with it.
You can also expect to find lifestyle posts on Mascara & Mimosas, including tried and tested recipes, décor and DIY and even the odd travel post.
A journalist by profession, Nicole now runs Autograph PR, a niche PR company which specialises in beauty, baby and wellness brands. She’s mum to Jack (8) and Ava (4).
Nicole has worked with brands such as Dis-Chem Pharmacies, LA Girl, Olli, Dr Gobac Cosmeceuticals and Mineraline.
Nicole has also spoken at our previous events on some DisChem make up products and also gave us a PR perspective “Don’t forget to iron your sheets!”
Sponsors at the event:
- Stylishi Mama
Haneefa Motani’s Stylishi Mama is the venue sponsor for our event. We will be gathering at her beautiful home.
Haneefa’s clothes are very flattering with many folds and gathers. They perfectly honour a woman’s figure between pregnancy and breastfeeding and also make sure that she can use the clothes again beyond this stage. Haneefa also makes the cutest mother and daughter sets. Check out her website here.
Haneefa is also a blogger, who also wrote a guest post for us on the fine print of parenting. She has two children.
2. Fountain Medical, who are the distributors for Philips Avent, Clevamama , Happy Baby and Bibi. They will be showcasing Philips Avent, Happy Baby and Child’s Farm in particular.
Philips Avent is a leader in parenting and baby products. The Philips Avent product range includes breastfeeding, bottle feeding and toddler feeding.
Happy Family wants the best for our kids, just like you do. That’s why they strive to provide the absolute best nutrition in their range of baby food and snacks . They can’t help it — it’s what they love to do.
Child’s Farm
Child’s Farm is an award winning British brand that’s starting a skincare revolution!
They believe that every child should feel happy in their skin whether it’s normal, sensitive or also eczema-prone.
That’s why they use only the best naturally derived ingredients and essential oils (that smell amazing!) to produce a range of mild, kind and safe products for newborns, babies and children.
In fact, they’re one of the very few baby and child ranges to undergo clinical safety tests and controlled user trials so all their products are dermatologist and paediatrician approved as suitable for sensitive and also eczema-prone skin. In other words, you can use them with absolute confidence whilst putting the fun back into bath time.
Andrew Wilson from LucidView presents their new Internet security device, the LucidView Enforcer for the home or small office. The device will allow parents to protect their children from exposure to inappropriate online content, malware and other threats associated with unsupervised or unmanaged Internet access.

I’m also interested in the Pinterest section – how does it relate to SA bloggers with Pinterest predominantly being from the US, and how to maximize this. Looking forward to listening to Laura, booking now.

I have two questions:
1. What are “good” blog stats – what should bloggers be aiming for to be taken seriously.
2. Are Pinterest followers relevant to bloggers focused on South African brands and products. I found my following to be mostly American via Pinterest.
Just bought my ticket. Cant wait for this!

I would like to know more about how to protect my child. I have all the necessary information from a legal perspective but what more can I do to ensure that my blog does not affect her negatively? What happens when people recognise her when I am not there to make her feel at ease and help facilitate her response? Is there any study or reading material I can refer to from a grown up mom blogger’s child? I can’t find anything written from a child’s point of view.

I would love to know the best way to approach a brand and how to create and execute a pitch. I rolled two questions into one there 😂
Rebecca says
What percentage of your business comes from brands/agencies approaching you VS you approaching them? If you do approach them to collaborate, would you then send through your rate card?
