Many of us have kids on holiday over the next two weeks and many parents have decided to take a few days off to either go or just spend time with family. Generally the holidays start off well, day one is full of excitement and plans but it can sometimes be a bit of a challenge trying to find ways to keep the kids busy.
These are our 5 favourite things to do.
Baking! Yes it is messy but the kids love it and there are lots of quick and easy recipes that even smaller kids can help with. Let the kids go through your recipe books and pick out the ones that they want to make, get them to check if you have the ingredients etc, you can earn bonus brownie points for making it a bit of an educational exercise as well.
Take them to a farm. Most towns have at least one petting zoo, where the kids can feed the animals. This is a great one for the little kids, they really do enjoy it and get excited to feed the animals. We recently visited Homeleigh Farm in PE and it was stunning (a more detailed blog post will follow).
Play some board games. This can get a bit tiresome for the parents but if you have older kids then they can play with each other and their younger siblings. There are some fun quick games like UNO or even the old fashioned snap.
If you live by the sea then a beach visit is a no brainer and a great way to tire the kids out.
Hiking trails are also really great. Take the dog and go explore your surrounding area. We have walks that are fine for the two year old to go on, so check out the options and find something for everyone. This is a great way to get everyone outside and active.
Cameron and I have been away for a week, David and Kiara have tidied up the house, re-packed cupboards and dug a hole in the garden (apparently for a veggie garden) so you could also do any or all of those!
What are some fun things you and your family do?
