If you ever played with the idea of being an author as a child but never carried it though, you can look up to Stacey Fru, a child who finished writing her first book two weeks before she turned eight. We are giving away two of her books on our blog today.
Stacey is a learner at Sacred Heart College in Observatory in Johannesburg and it is her love for reading and writing that inspired her to be an author. Not only does she write but she is also a motivational speaker; the biggest group she has given a speech to was 800 Matric learners at the AngloGoldAshanti Career Expo 2015.
Stacey’s mother, Victorine Mbong Shu, is also an author and has written the book ‘Stop Complaining! and Bring Back Involved Parenting’ tackling why children may be successful, but lacking emotionally.
Now let’s find out more about the books of her daughter:
This book is about two cats who are cousins. It portrays the common challenges of different socio-economics, academic and religious backgrounds in which the two survived. In this book, Stacey portrays the difference in places where the two cats stay and how this affected their daily lives.
Smelly Cats also depicts that even though the cats come from the same family, they have differences in friendship, love, hate, care, economic backgrounds and behaviour due to who they are. As her characters both behave badly, Stacey tells us about the role of school discipline in the book.
The constant fights between the two, although rooted in real issues, can also been seen as a vital spice of life that do not last forever. Stacey concludes her book by stating that “Life is not a bed of hatred. You grow better when you fight to spread love and have fun in a child’s way”.
Bob loves snakes with his whole heart. He is super happy because he heard his parents planning to buy him a real snake for his birthday. A few weeks after he received the snake, it was crowned the City Hero for saving the family from a thief who broke into their house while they were asleep. Ironically, Lob the snake is the same reason why Bob runs away from home for days. During school holidays, the family decides to travel to Disney Land. Find out if Lob the snake was allowed in the plane or not and how the story ended. Stacey concludes that ‘… no matter how much they try, children will always be naughty and parents will always be hard’.
