I am so terribly with my children’s vaccines. The first few are fine because you want to know if they are picking up weight and reaching milestones so you look forward to the trip to the clinic but then they get further apart and life happens before you know it your baby is 20 months and missed the 15 months and 18 months ones. (Or is it just me?)
Also as they get older, they start realising whats happening and its not really a pleasant trip. ShotBlocker is a new novel application that distracts the child from the pain by saturating the sensory signal! It is a small little plastic disk that you press onto the child’s skin where you are going to inject.
We tried it out with Emma at her last set of injections, she didn’t seem to fussed either time though and did still feel the pain but just went “ow”, shed two tears, grabbed her fizzer and ran off.
This is a great product to keep if you have kids who are just starting their vaccination journey or it your child needs regular injections.
You can get them from Dischem and participating pharmacies.

Thank you for this tip! My baby has to get regular (bi-monthly) blood draws, due to congential hypothyroidism and I cringe everytime the needle goes in! 🙁

This product looks great. I think I’d get it more to stop me from crying when my baby gets his vaccinations.. (I cried more than he did at the last one)
