- Tell us about yourself, a bit of background.
I’m a 29 year old mother of 2 girls and a proud Firefighter wife. I was born and raised in St. Cloud Florida, which is where I still reside with my family!! I’m a licensed Massage Therapist, which I loved! Helping others feel good about themselves is my passion! I love the look on their face when I’ve taken some kind of stress or self doubt away! I’m a strong Christian and grew up in one of our local churches! My family is so important to me and having a mother who is my best friend and a father who served this country as a special forces Green Beret I’ve had some big shoes to fill, they’ve made me who I am today!
Before my Mary Kay Business I was a full time Licensed Massage Therapist at the Mandara spa located in one of the Universal Orlando Hotels! I also had worked many LONG hours as a massage therapist at a chiropractor which forced me back to work when my oldest daughter was just 5 weeks old. This lifestyle was supper hard as a new mother, my daughter would be with a baby sitter or family member for as long as 12 hours Monday-Friday. This is when I decided I needed to figure something out, the money was good but the hours were long and being away from her was not an option.
- Is your business full time or part time and why?
My Business is part time! I work when and how much I want, which makes it easy for when my kids pop in and say “”I’m hungry or”Play with me!”
- Do you have a business plan? If so, can you share a bit about your strategy to make it successful?
My business plan is Consistency!! As long as I’m doing something at least a little a day to make a change in my business that is good! If one day I have 5 hours then that’s awesome but if another I have 30 minutes then I need to get busy and see what’s the most important on my list. Perseverance is another, if I’ve had a bad week like anyone in this business is going to come across, you call someone who has been in your shoes! Directors are your mentors, I have learned to move forward in this business and be successful I need to tell them what my fears and goals are, they’ve been there and they help you jump that hurdle!
- How do you get clients/ market yourself?
Getting Clients: This seems to be a huge question for new consultants, EVERYONE HAS SKIN lol.. Once you take that leap of faith and talk to the Walgreens cashier, or your pediatrician or the lady at the Mcdonalds window you’ll loose all fear because most are very welcoming to being pampered. We are NOT pushy sales women, our job is to make women feel wonderful and give them knowledge on how to take better care of their skin. I personally love making videos of our new products or products that are my favorite for my Marykaywithemily instagram and Facebook page!! When you love something people read of your excitement; this is how I get new clients and market myself! I’m not afraid to ask for help! I need faces all the time to demo new products or be willing to try the product to get before and after picture of a Mary Kay Make over!! Who doesn’t love being pampered and feeling beautiful?!
- What’s your biggest challenge right now?
I would say my biggest challenge is getting people to listen to you when you just want to share with them about this amazing company. There’s so many direct sales companies right now, people think you’re just another person on the list.. Once people are willing to listen to just how different Mary Kay “the women” has made this business and just how successful people can be in it they realize its’ the best business opportunity out there for women today!
- Did you need a lot of money to start off? And how long was it before you made a profit?
The Mary Business is a whopping $100 to get started! The starter kit provides you with over $400 worth of full size retail product and everything you need to start having skin care parties or classes immediately, you just have to take the leap and know what you put into it is what you get! You can start making profit immediately.
- What makes your business unique from other brands?
There’s several reasons why I personally think Mary Kay is more unique from other brands. Starting off you can be your very own business owner for just $100. Mary Kay has the biggest support system anyone has ever seen, women that get together weekly just to inspire others, help them grow personally, and praise them for even the smallest victory! Mary Kay consultants make one of the highest commissions in any direct sales company 50% and when I say direct sales, I don’t want people that say they “aren’t the sales type” to get confused. We do SELL but the product sells itself, you teach women how to feel amazing by giving them the tools to do so! Mary Kay is the number 1 selling company in skin care and color cosmetics for over 15 years which is astonishing because we do not have commercials and we are not in stores. Mary Kay is unique in the fact that you get US your consultant, to guide you to deliver to you, to give you ideas for any kind of look you want, you get a new friendship and a personal skin care and makeup coach!!
