One of the scariest times of a mothers life are the first few weeks when they bring their newborn home. It doesn’t matter how much you read before hand or how prepared you think you are your baby will do something not in the book and you will feel like you are never going to get this baby to 6 weeks old, never mind adult hood.
Who better to turn to in times like this but other moms. Moms who have actually been through it and come out alive on the other end. For me, my group of “mom” friends have been my greatest source of support, inspiration and guidance.
Candice Littleford and Lizanne Oved launched the Mamahood Facebook groups with the intention of connecting moms with other moms by providing a safe environment where moms can ask questions, share concerns and challenges and receive support from moms who have actually been through this crazy thing called parenting.
There are six closed groups in the major areas of South Africa, Mamahood Gauteng, Mamahood Cape Town, Mamahood KZN, Mamahood Eastern Cape, Mamahood Mpumalanga and Mamahood Garden Route. This means moms can also ask things like “where can I find a good paed” and get relevant answers and not have to wade through replies relevant to their area.
The groups have done incredibly well and collectively have over 40 000 members. Lizanne and Candice also support the Mompreneurs who are members of the groups and each Monday ladies are able to share their businesses on all of the pages.
They have also embraced the mommy blogging community and feature a blogger every week on the groups and we as SA Mom Blogs, have partnered with them in showcases some of the products made my the ladies on the groups.
Candice and Lizanne decided it was time to take the plunge and develop a website that combines everything the groups showcase and launched the new Mamahood site on the 1 September. They have created a beautiful space that is a valuable resource for moms.
There is section for events, an expert section, reviews and so much more. It really is a great site to get lost in with some valuable links and resources.
If you are not a part of the groups yet, join today and give their Facebook page a like and do some exploring of their website, I promise you you won’t be sorry!

Hi All. I’m looking for a nanny/domestic. It’s really tough working through agencies because they don’t really know the candidates. I’m looking for someone who needs to find a job because their employer either no longer needs them because the kids are grown or they moving. Please contact me on 0825224755 if you know of anyone. Thank you
