2012

1. One Step at a Time

Motherhood after infertility: I blog about my long awaited son, born June 2012. Toddler trials, SA life and I like to read books on parenting and infertility.

2.  The Grace Factory

I write a blog about my charity, The Grace Factory. We want to give back to mums and babies in need. Our aim is to meet the basic need of children’s homes in Gauteng and to hand out maternity packs in Gauteng to every mum who delivers in non-private hospitals.

3.  Life with a Ladybug

I was Cassie, a 32 year old fun loving, slightly crazy and colourful Jozi Girl. But now I am Mommy, an HR Manager and a Part-Time Student and Full Time Single Mom by day.  By night I’m a future Superhero.

This space is for us to jot down our adventures and misadventures as the two of us grow and get to know each other.  It is also a place where we unveil our plot to conquer the world in high heels and nappies.

Facebook Twitter

4. Mommyhood with Love

I am writing two blogs at the moment.  In Mommyhood with Love I share my experience as a Mom of two precious girls.  I also share advice if I have any to give.  Four years ago at the age of 31 I became a Mom and have loved every moment since, all challenges considered.  Our girls differ so much in their personalities, but each of them are very strong-willed. It is amazing and such a privilege watching them grow and being their mommy.

5. 3 Kids, 2 Dogs and 1 Old House

I’m Cindy, the author/blog slave behind 3 Kids, 2 Dogs and 1 Old House.

Although I may be the one writing it – my handsome, hipster husband Seth, our beautiful daughters Kyla (4) and Riya (3) and our long awaited little boy Knox (1) are the reason that I started (and continue) to blog.  Capturing our life together in a fun and interesting way is really important to me – I’m always hoping that they will go back and read it one day.

We are all about good coffee, wine and chocolate, kids crafts, grain/dairy free yummy food, gorgeous kids clothes, DIY projects that make our house more of a home, throw in some tattoos and the love to just spend time together as a family exploring what Cape Town (and South Africa) have available to us and that would just about sum us up – sort of.  While all those things are awesome and fun I want to always be real about parenting being super rewarding but also really challenging.

6. You, Baby and I

You, Baby and I is a network created to organise events online and offline for parents and kids. We blog, we review and share our favourite brands.

Hi… I’m Shan, I’m 23 years old with a 20 month baby girl from Gauteng South Africa. I’m a Brand Evangelist/Blogger/Vlogger who loves sharing my views and discussing my favourite brands. I got married when I was 21 to an awesome guy =) from Sri Lanka, who shares the same interests as me. We are best friends, business partners, parents, husband and wife. We were lucky enough to be blessed with a baby girl named Kitana on August 2nd 2012.
On my blog, I will be honest and share my emotions as a young mother. I’m obsessed with social media, spa treatments, travel, fine dining and anything baby.

7. Decadently Addicted

I am a 35 year old momtrepeneour. I have a BComm,  partially completed qualifications in accounting honours, CIMA and short term insurance (notice the trend). I am currently studying as a chef (finally something I can relate to). I blog mainly about food and things related to it (Slip in a bit of life with out anyone noticing). I blog because my plants don’t talk back anymore and my kids ignore me. I’ve found a whole new social side to technology and am loving it (borrowed from McDs)

8. Running the Race

Me and my family’s running- and healthy living adventures on the southern tip of Africa!  Celebrating life with thankful hearts.

9. Mom’s the Word

I am an average, mostly hardworking mommy of one very busy little boy and pregnant with my second, who will probably never completely lose all my pregnancy weight.

I try my best to not be the worst mom in the world – i read most parenting books and manuals out there, and try to find a structure and parenting model that fits us.

This journey is an awesome way to meet new people, gather invaluable opinions – not all followed, encounter opportunities and people I never otherwise would have!

This blog is a way to make sense of my journey – to keep myself accountable to be the best mommy to my little boys and to keep sane all at the same time!

10. The Dummy Mommy

My blog is about being a mom, wife, full time employee and running a charity. All the fun things that go with that too.

11. Wind In A Letterbox

Wife, mother, writer, bookworm, recovering chocoholic.  Belongs to Jesus.  Blogs about marriage, parenting, family and faith.

12. Confessions of a Zombie Mom

13.  Toppie se Vrou

I’m a 28 year old mother of 3 kiddies, aged 5, 3 & almost 2.
I’m a work-from-home, stay-at-home mom with a small accounting business.
I love my life, my kids and my Toppie, my wonderful husband of almost 5 years now.

My kids….
Calum Daniel: My Miracle child, born on my birthday and survivor despite all the odds being against him. We had a difficult, emotional, roller coaster pregnancy with him, Wrap-around placenta (the start of placenta pervia) and numerous almost miscarriages.

Coel Jacob: My Happy child, born 4 days ahead of schedule, by surprising us and making me go into labour early. Always smiling, i can never be cross with him. He’s friendly and happy.

Codi-Beth: Our little Tiny Princess, new to the world. Growing everyday

My Toppie…..
My husband, my grump, the love of my life.

14.  Daniel and Tasco

Musing of a Mom, Wife and a Writer rolled into one!
I’m the mom who is always rushing off in one directions and it seems that my son, Daniel, has inherited those traits. So I write about him, our lives and our history. Although I work full time, I try spend as much time writing as possible.

I am the author of the children’s book series called The Adventures of Daniel and Tasco, based on the gallivanting of my son Daniel and his German Shepherd friend Tasco. People’s journey to writing has always been such an inspiration and it was always my dream to write about my own life and thoughts so I made it happen!

15. Memoirs from the Meth Lab

30-something Durban mum to 2 year old Ryder and wife to one X-box mad husband. Writing is a joy I’m slowly making more time for in between PR work and the general chaos of living with a little person. Motherhood was a happy fluke. A passionate lactivist. Working on bebe number 2. (Maybe).

16. Ellie Love

My name is Caley Jade Rosenberg and I’m a 29 year old from Durban, South Africa.
I am a wife to the most amazing man in the world, MC and a mom to my little angel princesses, SJ (Sophie Jade) and EN (Ellie Nicole). We live in a small city off the East Coast of South Africa where the sun is always shining and the beach is so inviting.

I am a born and bred Durban girl – spending my school years here, my university days studying a BA in English and Communications, and then a Post Grad degree in Teaching and now being a stay-at-home mom (for now!)

I love to blog about my family and lifestyle – from marriage, parenting, teaching and our home to recipes, reviews, travel and new products.

17. Just Four More Minutes

I live in a house with my husband Clint and our two sweet boys. Jesse is four years old and Jack is just over two. I am a busy, happy gal.

While I try to sneak in some quiet time, it is rarely quiet for long. As my leg is being pulled by a boy with chubby cheeks or while I am being ambushed by his big brother pleading with me to take him on a bike ride around the block, I often find myself longing for just a few more precious minutes. It’s a silly thing to do really – in the end, loving them fills my heart more than any project could.

What will you find on ‘ JUST FOUR MORE MINUTES ‘ ?

19. My Friend Thinks I’m Supermom

Honest ramblings about my life. Blogging is after all cheaper than therapy! This blog is about me taking life by the horns and dealing with it. I love all things local: food, fashion, fun and life. Reviews and Giveaways too.

20.The Mommy City

Mommy blogger living in Cape Town with her husband and two toddlers (aka monsters). I started blogger after my daughter Paige was born as a way to keep connected with the outside world and share my experiences. Deciding on what to buy as a pregnant mom was overwhelming and often the purchase choices were expensive. I couldn’t find many South African reviews and on products that were available locally. By blogging I hope to help parents find good buys, hopefully save money and also find useful resources to make family life easier.

What can I say about Rustenburg.. Rustenburg has What can I say about Rustenburg..

Rustenburg has massive mountains. They are beautiful, but difficult to climb.

The chess was challenging and Nicky got 4.5 out of 9 rounds, ending in 42nd position.

My hire car struggled up the hill and the clutch started smoking. After that I came early to make sure I got a parking spot at the bottom.

The electricity was intermittent. Out Guest house had a generator which they turned off at night so Nicky had to make do with a small portable fan.

Despite all this, we are grateful for precious moments which made this trip worthwhile.

Friends that we made and spent time with

Meeting your opponent that you just played at Nando's.

Jumping on trampolines and having fun at Sun City. I lay on the beach while Nicky and Deacon did the slides.

At the airport Nicky had fun walking both ways on the treadmill and Chelsea joined him too.

All in all I'm also super grateful that we made memories and to be home safe.

Would you like to create content but you lack foll Would you like to create content but you lack followers?

There is another option.

User generated content is where you produce content for brands, and it really doesn't matter how many followers you have.

Lakeisha Mugo from Kenya has put together a UGC guide that will give you the plan that you need.

What I liked about this guide:
📱No fluff, real steps.
📱Great ideas for engagement and what really makes a thoughtful comment.
📱Loads of templates for everything including letters to brands and even for feedback on your work.
📱Africa specific and relevant.
📱How to make sure that you charge according to the different levels of UGC

It's all up on the blog! So go ahead and read it.

It's that season where we are going around looking It's that season where we are going around looking at high schools.

I know. Time flies. How did we get here?

I loved the quotes on the walls and the art work of the students. If I had to do school again, I think I'd do more art and cooking.

What would you do?

Anyway, let's hope Nicky gets accepted somewhere for next year. These applications are a lot of work. But I've done 3 of them now.

Nicky really likes this school. And of course he went straight for the chess.

Ask Chat GPT to make a caricature of you based on what it knows about you. You'll get a better result if you tell it what you do. The first attempt was slide 2, it thinks I am a doctor. And I never ask it medical questions.

After working from my mom's home, I had a new appr After working from my mom's home, I had a new appreciation for my work space.

But I needed to do something different. I needed to turn it around for the light. But the alarm antenna stuck out in the corner.

I was busy doing a blog post on bringing nature into your home and I got inspired to put a green feature there and bring in two flower pots. I also got some baskets to clear the clutter.

You have the power to rewrite your story and create something beautiful.

You just need that push to start.

Consider yourself pushed!

Update on Survivor PE: We have intermittent water Update on Survivor PE: We have intermittent water but no power. Lastest news is we might have it by Thursday but I'm not holding my breath.
I wanted to do laundry today and brought the maid to my mom's house and everything but because it's a cloudy day the solar is only on two dots so we've got to conserve power.

#survivorpe #survivorgq #nopower #samomblogs #somewater
When the city tells you that you're not going to h When the city tells you that you're not going to have power for two weeks!

A huge pylon collapsed due to vandalism, wind and rust.

And then your water goes...

You freak out and then you make a plan.
For the first morning, I hot spotted.

Then in the afternoon I went to my mom to teach the rest of my classes.

Since then I have basically moved all my food over to her house and started cooking there as well. I'm also going there to charge everything.

There's no point even using the gas when all the food needs to be kept cold so it needs to be done in one place.

For the water, I now have a system. We flush the toilet with pool water. Wash ourselves and dishes with tank water. And drink from the little tank.

Nicky has also adapted and is enjoying Granny's chairs.

Oh, and I've also been restyling furniture in my study. If the light is in front of me, it is better. I've been dealing with work assessments.

But we can't wait for the lights to come back on and running water.

Until then, I'm super grateful for family.
